Berwick Academy Class Of 2006

Valedictorian, salutatorian address seniors

Sixty-five members of the Berwick Academy Class of 2006 received diplomas on June 10 at a 10 a.m. graduation ceremony held in the school's athletic center.

Salutatorian Alex Patten and Valedictorian Devin Worster both addressed their classmates and audience members. The commencement address was given by Ted Smith, dean of students for the upper school, who also served as one of the 2006 class advisers.

Mary Z. Schleyer, president of the academy's board of trustees, handed out diplomas with the assistance of Head of School.

The invocation and benediction were offered by the Rev. Donna Lee Muse, pastor of the First Parish Federated Church of South Berwick.

Ridgway presented two special awards, traditionally given during commencement exercises. The Dorothy Green Outstanding Teacher Award was presented to Christine Bessette, the school's science department chairman and an upper school biology and dance teacher. The Jimmy Dean Good School Person Award was presented to Adelle Tibbetts, the school's language department chairman and an upper school Spanish teacher.

Special music was performed by piper Doug Cals.
