Bonny Eagle High School Class Of 2006
Top of the Class | Awards | Graduates

Speaker urges peers to do their parts in life

Bonny Eagle High School graduated 270 members of the Class of 2006 on June 9 in a 7 p.m. commencement ceremony at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland.

Senior student Griffin Sherry gave the welcome and president's addresses, challenging his peers to do their parts in life's journey.

There were several solo and group musical performances. Featured were singers Megan Burnell, Gina Caramone, Maxwell Davis, Sean McCarthy and Griffin Sherry.

Michael Kane, a social studies teacher and assistant wrestling coach, gave the graduation address, speaking on the importance of education, commitment and perseverance.

Superintendent of schools Suzanne Lukas presented diplomas to graduates, and Principal Sheila Jepson presided over the awarding of scholarships.

Class marshals were Alyssa Dunn and Mallery Stanley.

Senior Last Assembly was held on June 7.

The speaker, health and physical education teacher John Suttie, said: "The decisions that you make in the next five or six years can affect your quality of life for the rest of your life. Will you set yourself up in a career and life situation that brings you joy and happiness? Or will these decisions create a life of struggle? Please keep that in mind as you choose the path of your life."

David DouinJosh Douin is the son of Lisa Lozier and David Douin of Hollis. David was in the National Honor

Society, Foreign Language Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Wind

Ensemble, and Sophomore Class Treasurer. He was on the soccer, tennis, golf, and basketball teams.

He was Male Scholar Athlete (10,11) MVP Tennis Team, Most Dedicated Player Tennis Team, and

received the Cornell Book Award as a junior. Josh is attending Bucknell University, majoring in

biomedical engineering.

Eric  Favreau Eric Favreau, son of James and Carolyn Favreau of Buxton. Eric has been active in the National

Honor Society, Math Team, Recycle Club, Amnesty International, Band, Jazz Band, and Pit Band. He

was captain of the indoor track team, outdoor track team, and the cross country team. He was the

State Champion in the 4 x 800 relay and Individual 800 League Champ. Eric received the DAR Good

Citizen Award, was selected to attend Boys State and Rippleffect. He will be attending the

University of Southern Maine in the fall to study education, biology, math, and music.

Emily Harvey Emily Harvey is the daughter of Deborah and Richard Harvey of Standish. While at Bonny Eagle, she

has been active in the T-Cell Club, Key Club, Student Council, and Fight Against Cancer Society.

She participated in soccer and lacrosse (Captain). She received the most improved award in soccer; the Bruce Dobkowski Sportsmanship Award for soccer, Lab Chemistry Award, and was on the SMAA All

Academic Soccer Team. She will attend the University of New England.

Kelly Johnson Kelly Johnson is the daughter of David and Suanne Johnson of Buxton. Kelly was involved in the

National Honor Society (Vice President 12), Foreign Language Honor Society, Key Club, and Robotics

Team (Co-Captain 12). She was a member of field hockey(captain 12), basketball (captain 12), and

softball(captain 12) teams. Kelly received the Society of Women Engineers Award, Wendy's High

School Heisman Award, Maine Sunday Telegram MVP for Field Hockey Award, was a finalist for the Miss

Maine Field Hockey Award, and was a softball SMAA Honorable Mention, and SMAA Second team. She

plans to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the fall and be a mechanical engineering major.



Jamie  Ketch Jamie C. Ketch is the daughter of Gael and Darrell Ketch of Standish. She has been active in the

National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society (President). She participated in

lacrosse (captain), field hockey (captain), and indoor track. She was the Most Dedicated 2005-2006

Field Hockey Player, Maine State Field Hockey All Academic Team 2005-2006, and SMAA All Academic

Team (Field Hockey). Jamie plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono to study civil engineering.

Melissa Peterson Melissa L. Peterson is the daughter of Mark and Diane Peterson of Hollis. While in high school; Melissa has been active in the Fight Against Cancer Society (President) and the Foreign Language

Honor Society (Treasurer). She plans to attend Merrimack College and study accounting or finance.

Alexander Pinette Alex Pinette is the son of Cynthia Skoolicas of Baldwin and Timothy Pinette of Hollis. At Bonny

Eagle he participated in National History Day. He was in basketball and soccer (captain 12). He

received high honors for all four years. Alex plans to attend Syracuse University this fall.

Kimberly Simonsen Kimberly Simonsen is the daughter of Paul and Linda Simonsen of Buxton. She has been active in the

National Honor Society, Foreign Language Honor Society, Key Club, and Fight Against Cancer Society.

She played tennis(co-captain) and was co-captain of the swim team for 3 years. Kimberly was a State

Champion at National History Day for four years, National Champion National History Day for two

years, received the Smith College Book Award, was Alternate for Dirigo Girls' State, National Honor

Roll, Who's Who in American High School Students, and Most Dedicated Swimmer Award. She will be

attending the University of New England, majoring in occupational therapy.

Shawn Smith II Shawn Smith is the son of Sandra Harris of Windham. He has been active in the Recycle Club, School

Newspaper, Foreign Language Honor Society, and Math Team. He was on the cross country, indoor

track, and outdoor track teams. He was on the Indoor Track Championship Team, 4 x

800 relay State Championship Team, the Outdoor Track Championship Team, and team captain. Shawn

plans to attend the University Of Maine Orono and major in chemical engineering.

Katrice Wagner Katrice Wagner is the daughter of Roger and Brenda Mojon of Hollis. She has been active in

National Honor Society, Foreign Language Honor Society, Fight Against Cancer Society, Key Club ; and Student Council. She was in the freshman and JV field hockey teams, indoor girls track, and

tennis (Captain). Katrice received the 2004 Female Scholar Athlete Award, 2005 Most Improved Girls

Tennis Award and highest honors. She is attending the University of Maine Orono.
